Join Bethlehem’s Disaster Response Team

Brad Nelson

Pastor for Global Outreach

Bethlehem’s Global Outreach team is strengthening and expanding our Disaster Response Team. We would like to invite men and women in our church family to be a part of this group to prepare for and plan short-term ministry trips to areas of the U.S. and the world where people are experiencing emergency hardships caused by floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other traumatic events.

Among other things, the Disaster Response Team would focus on supporting Bethlehem global partners as they respond to such events in their own geographic areas or as they express the need for infrastructure support for their ministries or homes. The team would also continue to partner with outside organizations (e.g., Samaritan’s Purse, Action International) which seek to support local churches in reaching out to those in need following natural disasters.

In the past, Bethlehem’s Disaster Response Teams have ministered in Pakistan, Cuba, Philippines, Bahamas, Japan, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, and a variety of places in the U.S.

We invite you to come and learn more about this team. We want to build our capacity to respond to community crises of a physical nature—typically involving shelter, food & water, rebuilding, and other infrastructure needs. We also plan to include members who would relationally connect with residents, homeowners, and others through conversations of care, sharing the gospel, and prayer so that we will be better prepared to respond to both the spiritual and physical needs of those who have experienced loss.
