Ken Currie (Downtown Campus) | 1 Thessalonians 1:1-3
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace to you and peace.
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.—1 Thessalonians 1:1–3
Overview
We are moving toward more consistent campus-specific preaching. The idea is contextualizing the broader vision at each campus. For the Downtown Campus, I believe we have an opportunity to investigate, “What is a healthy church?” If we are healthy as a church, we will be faithful and vital in our worship, sincere in our fellowship and care, and powerful in our witness. Today, we will begin a Downtown Campus focus for most of the campus-specific weekends.
Where would we look for a model of a healthy church? Well, of course in God’s word—and one place in particular is Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians. So, with 1 Thessalonians as our anchor text, in the coming months we will look at membership, leadership, sound doctrine, ministry, and various aspects of life together.
